Richard Quast’s background is not the typical path into safety consulting. His career spans supervisory roles, superintendent, operations manager and project manager positions alongside senior safety, training and compliance roles, across coal, hard rock, surface and underground operations in all Australian states and territories, plus New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia.
Most safety consultants have worked in safety. Richard has also run operations, managed projects and made the calls that sit at the intersection of production, workforce capability and risk, without ever needing an external consultant himself. That is the foundation every Mineshield engagement is built on.
